I grew up next to the Stockport suburb of Adswood, I was a member of 1st Adswood Cubs and Scouts and my favourite ever garden centre was Lomax Nurseries (now a housing estate).

So shame on me for taking so long to get round to painting it. No excuses.

But I was eventually inspired by memories of the legendary Wembley pub, which my cousin David almost became the landlord of, and which was the source of many a bawdy tale. That, too, is now a housing estate.
